Training Course for Instructors

This course is primarily intended for instructors who will be conducting STCW courses in the maritime training institutions and in the maritime higher education institutions. It is a relatively short course that is designed to give a useful introduction especially to those with little or no experience in teaching. In the first part of the course, we are going to deal with the role of IMO in the maritime education and training. The main part of this course deals with the techniques in teaching which includes the principles of teaching and learning, teaching and training methods, various styles of learning and an introduction to assessment, among others. By the end of the course, each trainee is expected to be able to prepare an Instructor's Guide and conduct an effective teaching demonstration.
